Glass Toys

Some "transparency" on the subject!

When perusing toys and trying to find the right material, it’s not uncommon for people to entirely skip over glass. Many people envision a hospital trip with an abundance of broken shards when contemplating glass. Which in theory, makes sense… But that’s actually not the reality of glass toys. The reality of glass toys is that they are a far too overlooked, versatile material that has a lot of special uses. Oh, and they aren’t nearly as easy to break as you think.

Busting Myths, not Glass:

Upon hearing the word "glass", folks are usually reminded of some of the more delicate and beautiful things around their homes. Things such as decorations, art pieces, light bulbs and more. The material glass sex toys are made out of, however, is Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is not your average cup or blown glass art project. It is actually one of the most durable forms of glass humans have at our disposal. What would usually shatter any fragile glassware around the house would have a hard time even denting Borosilicate. That’s actually why any glassware used in high end laboratories is made of the same material. They needed a more durable level of glass that can withstand the grueling trials of science, and they sure found one.

We have even done drop tests here at our own store to be certain. The glass toys tested were undamaged when being dropped from up to six feet in the air onto hard concrete. Glass toys in general are far tougher than they look, and well suited for far more than just damage tests. If you still have concerns about glass, just remember this: If you use a glass toy a bit too roughly, you will break long before it does.

Beautiful and Versatile:

Glass as a material is incredibly versatile, and it’s no different in the playful world of sex toys. First, any toy made of entirely glass is fully compatible with silicone lubricant. Something not many of the softer material toys can say. This makes them useful not just for enjoying the hypoallergenic longer lasting presence of silicone lubricant, but also any sexy acts that could favor silicone lubricant, as well. Glass is a strong choice for anal play because of this, as it has access to a lubricant that doesn’t absorb as easily and takes far less reapplication. Glass also inherently has far more slip to it than most other materials. Not only does that help for anal play, but it also changes the feel of penetration in general.

The hard nature of Glass also lends itself better to applying pressure. This means that any application of pressure to the P-Spot/G-Spot will be more intense with a glass toy. Mix that with the slick nature of glass that we mentioned before, and you’ve got yourself a hell of a P/G Spot stimulator. Glass also has a wide range of shapes as it’s quite malleable during manufacturing. Plugs, dildos, beaded probes and more all take on a variety of gorgeous curves and color, making them a prime choice for any collection.

Playing with Temperature:

Warming a toy in water before use is a common practice. Glass, however, takes that idea to the next level. Glass holds any temperature applied to it incredibly well. That could be toasty warm, or cool and chilly. Due to this capability, glass toys are great companions for temperature exploration and play. Even warming them just to bodily temperatures can be helpful or pleasant for people, and glass makes that super easy. For example; one of the most consistent ways to warm/cool glass is with water. Running the toy under the faucet, or leaving it in a warm/cold bath both work great for getting a toy ready for play. You can also take it up another notch and leave it in a chilly ice bath or the freezer for more extreme temperatures.

One thing to keep in mind when chilling your toy however, is the phenomenon that happens when you lick a cold metal pole. For those of you who haven’t made that mistake as a kid, the moisture on your tongue quickly freezes and is removed entirely. This causes the soft skin to stick to the cold object rather uncomfortably… for a while. To avoid any discomfort with fresh from the freezer toys, just be sure to run them under cold water before play. That or you can simply pre-expose the toy to moisture by leaving it in an ice bath as we discussed before.

Either way, the entire world of temperature is at your fingertips with glass. Especially because Borosilicate is highly resistant to thermal shock. Which essentially just means it can withstand drastic changes in temperature without being damaged by them.

Once the assumptions are washed away, it's crystal clear that glass toys are a great option. They are versatile, slick, durable, beautiful, and even temperature reactive.
