What are nipple clamps and why use them?
As you likely already know, nipples are a treasure trove of nerve endings. They respond well to all kinds of physical stimuli like pinching, pulling, striking, cold, and heat. This makes them a perfect erogenous zone and accessories abound for making these two "points of interest" a staple for BDSM fun.​​
We can and do use our fingers for nipple stimulation. However, what if there were helpful tools that not only take our fingers place but do the work BETTER? Enter nipple clamps. These devices provide effective, hands-free pinching, pressing, and pulling sensations while creating new ways to interact with this erogenous zone.
Using clamps​
Most nipple clamps are fairly simple to use, with each have subtly differing mechanics. Before placing the clamps on the nipple, it can be helpful to try them on other parts of the body that aren't as sensitive. A good example would be the flesh between the thumb and pointer finger. This gets you familiar with how they open and close and how much pressure is being exerted. Next, open the clamps and approach the nipple from the side. Where on the nipple the clamp closes is based purely on personal preference and body shape. Some even prefer or have better usage involving some of the areola. Be sure to apply the business end of the clamps, the "jaws", as evenly as possible to avoid slipping off or awkward clamping. From there, experiment and explore! Selecting clamps​
If you are new to nipple clamps, select easily adjusted ones. We suggest tweezer or alligator clamps for their ease of use and wide range of customizable pressure. While most clamps come in fairly standard sizes and shapes, some styles and designs accommodate differing body types better. From there it really is personal preference. Do you want a particular decoration or aesthetic? Do you want a chain connecting them or the ability to connect other accessories? There is a huge variety out there and part of the fun is finding one that suits you personally!​​​
Types of clamps:
Tweezer​
As the name implies, picture a pair of tweezers and you have the core setup of tweezer clamps. How they function as nipple clamps is adding a small ring that slides around both tweezer arms. As the ring travels from the meeting point of the arms, it draws them closer together and clamps down on whatever is in between. These are pretty easy to operate while exerting a wide range of pressure, making tweezer clamps ideal for beginners and enthusiasts alike.
These easy and effective clamps do have some downsides. The jaws of the clamp, the ends of the tweezer arms, by nature of the design are sloped. This means the pressure is not perfectly and equally applied across​​​
Classic clamp / Jaw / Alligator
Another classic nipple clamp design in the "alligator" clamp. The jaws of the clamp are operated by simply compressing the two spring-loaded arms behind and letting them clamp shut around the nipple. The pressure can be adjusted by a stop screw, stopping the jaws at whichever pressure point feels best.​​​​​
Clover / Butterfly
These clamps received their name due to their unique appearance. They are constructed to apply more pinpoint pressure through two small, round pads at the end of spring loaded arms. Unlike tweezer or alligator clamps, you cannot adjust the intensity of clover clamps. Whatever pressure level they are at is what they will always be. Clover clamps are ideal for users who want precision clamping with less slipping and a higher pinching intensity level. ​​​​​​​
Vice
Want to have the ability to exert as much pressure as possible? Then reach for vice clamps. These are screw-driven clamps usually utilizing two adjustable bars pinching the flesh in between. Because of their shape, vice clamps will exert a higher pressure versus pinch ratio than the other clamps like tweezers or clover. ​​​​​​
Magnetic
As the name says, these clamps harness the power of magnets to apply their pressure. Most come in two pieces, placing the nipple between as the magnets draw towards each other. This makes them fun, compact and simple to use, just line up the pieces and let them do the work! However, this is also what makes them challenging to use. The pieces must line up perfectly and the magnetism must be strong enough to "clamp" together around the nipple. ​​​​​
Suckers / erector kits
Looking to perk up your nipples for sensitivity, easier clamps application, or for looks? Nipple suckers and erectors are ideal solutions. Suckers are by far the most popular and easiest to use. In fact, they also double as clamp-like play tools that offer the ability to pull or twist the nipple while in use. The basic sucker looks like a little bulb with a large, flared opening. Compress the bulb, place opening over the nipple, let go, and the bulb springing back to form creates the suction. Leave on to use like an interactive clamp, or pull/pry off the nipple to reveal the now-erect nipple.
If the bulb style just isn't enough suction, then upgrade to twist suckers. These mighty suckers use a threaded mechanism to deliver a customized and large range of suction, the highest being very intense.
Lastly, an erector set helps keep those nipples perky by introducing small rings. The unique sucker allows rings to be held on the nozzle and once erection is achieved, the ring is transferred to the nipple. Like a cockring, the ring traps blood and encourages those nipples to stay perky!​​​​​​​
Other variants / accessories
Like any category of BDSM tool, there are many other more unique styles available if you look hard enough. There are four way press clamps, rods, claws, forceps, and clothespins. Each provides a slightly different function or sensation that is up to the individual's preference.
Want to create some different sensations beyond the actual clamp? There are accessories or styles that introduce things like vibration or pulling. Tug on those nipples with attached grips or weights.
